"Weather station" project on //e

Hello folks.

I am interested in creating a sort of "weather station" on an Apple
//e I have lying around.  The sort of thing I envisage is a data
collection system to monitor wind speed/direction, rainfall,
temperature, humidity etc etc.

I was wondering if any such projects have been attempted before with
an Apple II (I am quite sure they have!) and if there is any
documentation anywhere which I could have a look at.  I have a box of
old cards for the Apple II series including serial, parallel, and
RS432 type cards.  I am not averse to soldering/construction etc
coming from an electronics/computing background.
