Re: "Weather station" project on //e
John,
I don't know very much about the nature of the serial port on the Apple
//e.
However, I have a number of packages that will interface with a PC Com
Port.
8-channel Temperature Meas
8-channel I/O plus two 12-bit A/D
4-channel 8-pin A/D
Timer as might be used with a Sonar
Serial Weather. This includes two temperatures, atmospheric pressure, two
RH, wind speed, gust, direction, rainfall and one user 12-bit A/D.
On this, we use a wind vane and annenometer by Fascinating Electronics.
There is info on my homepage; http://www.access.digex.net/~pha

: Hello folks.
:
: I am interested in creating a sort of "weather station" on an Apple
: //e I have lying around. The sort of thing I envisage is a data
: collection system to monitor wind speed/direction, rainfall,
: temperature, humidity etc etc.
:
: I was wondering if any such projects have been attempted before with
: an Apple II (I am quite sure they have!) and if there is any
: documentation anywhere which I could have a look at. I have a box of
: old cards for the Apple II series including serial, parallel, and
: RS432 type cards. I am not averse to soldering/construction etc
: coming from an electronics/computing background.

: Emails appreciated, thanks.
