We are different kinds of Apple II fans. You are the collector.
You want things "as they were" which explains your love for
something like ROM 0 IIGS with faulty VGCs.

I, on the other hand, want to hack units to push them as far as
they can go for doing useful tasks. Even though I have a
Windows PC and have access to Macintoshes, I still like to
use the IIGS for computing tasks much of the time.

The original Apple II can't be pushed very far. Certainly,
it can't be pushed no matter how I hack it to word process
a simple letter on an ink jet printer. Thus, the original Apple II
is useless to me, no matter how rare.

The Apple IIGS and even the Apple IIe are useful
computers to me. They can actually DO the computing
tasks that I'm interested in.

There is nothing wrong with your point of view. There is
nothing wrong with my point of view either. Both camps
are represented here on csa2. The Profile controversy has
just brought these differences to a focus, that's all.

You see a ROM 0 IIGS with faulty VGC and thing "gee,
that's rare, I want it."

I see a unit that needs upgrading to be useful.
