Re: Profile HD- What is necessary to make it work w/ the II's

Original != faulty. I had faulty VGCs at first in my original IIgs and kept
taking my box back to the dealer for a fix. The ROM 0 I have now has an
unupgraded VGC but does not suffer from bleedy 80 col text or pink DHR.

It's not an either-or. My original Woz signature edition has a ROM 3 board
in it along with a 4 mb memory card, a superdrive card with drive attached,
a slinky memory card for RAM disk, and a SCSI hard disk and CD attached.
It's also networked to printers, routers, and file servers. But like I said,
I also have that ROM 0 signature edition, an original ][, a Mac 128, a Lisa,
and III and III plus.

: is useless to me, no matter how rare.
But if you're a real Apple II enthusiast you can appreciate it. Certainly
enough to say it shouldn't be gutted and used as a hard disk enclosure.
: The Apple IIGS and even the Apple IIe are useful
: computers to me. They can actually DO the computing
: tasks that I'm interested in.
: There is nothing wrong with your point of view. There is
: nothing wrong with my point of view either. Both camps
: are represented here on csa2. The Profile controversy has
: just brought these differences to a focus, that's all.
: You see a ROM 0 IIGS with faulty VGC and thing "gee,
: that's rare, I want it."
: I see a unit that needs upgrading to be useful.
I have one of each.
