I'd go with recracking the originals so that you can be sure you are
getting a good copy.  The original crackers may have done more than
just add a new title screen.  They might have also modified other
things in the program.

Either way, I still don't think that the cracked versions should be
made freely available.  It is one thing to want to preserve the
software, but it is another thing entirely to give it away to
everyone.
