If I recall correctly, they were available from Hewlett-Packard
(possibly from other companies as well) for a short time. They were
nicknamed "flippy" disks because you had to remove the disk from the
drive then flip it over to use the other side. Needless to say, they
disappeared when double-sided disk drives became standard throughout the
industry.
