I found BELL2's location ($FBE4) in my APPLE ][ REFERENCE MANUAL.
Calling BELL2 on a IIgs seems to set off its system bell, so I typed
FBE4L into the IIgs's System Monitor. I entered L a couple more
times, and tried calling things that "BELL2" called, but I didn't find
any references to $C030, the only place that's supposed* to make a
click on a //e. This makes me think there's more than //e-type sound
stuff happening. I could be wrong. I hope this will encourage a
straighter answer!
*The Applesoft ][ book mentions some joystick code that will make the
speaker click.
