Wolf 3D-- Where is the Silver Key? & Key-Making Plus
Where is the Silver Key on 5-5 of Mission Zero?
After scouring 5-5 for an hour or so, it seemed best to just try
making a Silver Key. (This was the only cheat used to get through
Mission Zero.)
Evidently, Wolf3D uses two bits in the first block of the Saved
Game file to keep track of keys. To make a key, copy your Saved Game for
5-5 to /RAM5. Use Block Warden to modify byte $03B in the first block of
the file to ...
Gold Key- $01
Silver Key- $02
Both Keys- $03
Change the name of the modified file (e.g. from M0.55 to M0.55k)
and write it to your Wolf 3D Saved Games folded.
Locations of some other interesting stuff in the first block:
Health- $031
Gun Ammo- $033
Max Gun Ammo you can carry- $035
Flame Thrower Ammo- $037
Rocket Ammo- $039
The values at these locations are all two-byte hexadecimal values,
lo-byte first.
Score is a three or four byte hex value stored beginning at $017.
