But, there is a problem...at times...I have a friend who had an 8100/80
and my GS (which I do clean the drives occasionally, and did when having
problems) could not read 800K disks _completely_ that were formatted on
his Mac.  There was always random block errors.  Used the same disks on
his IIcx and didn't have any of the problems.

I do believe the problem resulted from Apple using cheaper drives...in
response to people requesting that Apple use less expensive components
in Macs.  Some 3.5" floppy drives on the Mac weren't variable speed like
the 800K format normally uses and did all the variable stuff in software.

Haven't had a problem with the drives on the newer PowerMacs though.
