Laserwriter printing
Laserwriter help? 2 questions:
System/Hardware GS/OS system 6.0.1, IIGS Rom 1 + 4Meg RAM + ZipGS 8/64
Using a GS/OS pgm like AWGS, or NDA like EGOed,Hermes, etc. I can print
via Appletalk to a LaserWriter II NT, but I can not get a printout on
a LaserWriter 12/640 (after the preparing data, status, etc. messages
a get a brief alert like % % flushing to end of file % %, or something
to that effect). From P8 and the imagewriter emulator (v1.6) downloaded
into each printer, printing is fine. It is just GS/OS postscript printing
which doesn't work. Obviously I am using the net printer control panel
to select printers etc. with no problem. Does anyone have an explanation
why the newer 12/640 does not work with GS/OS? Is there a solution?
Which brings up question 2: I thought I would look at a postscript file
and manipulate it and use Laserbeam to test the 12/640. But I have forgotten
how to print to a file. I have a driver for postscript (named PostscriptF
which is a copy of the LaserWriter driver) and have chosen PostscriptF as
a direct connect printer, and I know I am supposed to hold a key down (F?)
when I click the OK button in the print dialogue, but what key? I've used
f, ctrl-f, shift-f, apple-f, option-f, etc. to no avail. Postscript.000
etc. files do NOT show up in the drivers folder. I get a error message
instead. I know I did this successfully in the past, but now that I want
to do it I can't remember how. Help, please?
Thanks, and Happy New Year Everbody!
