Yep I dunno about that IDE stuff since all my Macs date from the days when
performance was the bottom line, although it cost some healthy $. But the 1
gig DEC internal and external 2 gig Quantum work great like I was saying. I
don't know where you get the idea that a given drive will take longer to
spin up as an external than as an internal. Drives have the same characteris-
tics whether they're in the CPU case or an enclosure.
So hows come you have Silverlining on your external? I plan to reformat my
two gigger with Drive Setup once I get enough space to back it up. It has
APS' driver on there now. If you use the official Apple driver, it'll update
automatically when you install OS 8.0 or later to a system with the drive
connected. Drive Setup recognizes the Quantum even though it wasn't an
Apple supplied drive too.
