It's just been my experience, that's all.  I've timed both the SCSI and
the IDE on startup.  Despite this difference, I prefer SCSI over IDE,
actually (SCSI is more reliable like you say).  At work, my *internal*
SCSI in the 9500 starts up very fast and the external SCSI (same brand
as my home external drive) takes a few seconds longer also.

Hmmm.  Drive Setup has never recognized my 1.2 gig LaCie brand drive.  I
always thought this was strange because the drive has the Apple logo on
it, etc.  The drive came with the Silverlining driver already on it,
I've updated it several times, and have the newest version of the driver
installed.  When I installed OS 8, it told me I could not install the OS
on that particular drive (even with the *most recent* driver on
there--which *was* the requirement for installing!), so I have OS 8 on
the internal IDE drive instead.
