I don't know but would like to find out as well.

I picked up an Atari 1040STe at a Goodwill a few weeks ago for $5 CDN.
I've had it hooked up to the TV and it works fairly well but I can
only use it in Low and Medium resolutions.  I'm wondering why I can't
use the High resolution.  I figure it is caused by either a hardware
limitation when using the RF output to save from getting a really
crappy picture or simply because I don't have enough memory in the
machine.

One of these days I'll get around to finding some web pages with
pinouts and specifications for this machine so I can find out what I
really got.  I also need to track down some software for it.
