     The explanation is, most likely, that your system does not know where 
to find Quark when the Quark file icon is clicked. This information is 
supposed to be associated with the icon representing Quark files.

     If Quark is a program which tries to update ICONS/DESKTOP when it is 
first executed, then, the Quark file icon information included in DESKTOP 
may have become corrupted. You can try deleting DESKTOP and, then, starting 
Quark to give it a chance to put the info into a new DESKTOP.

     Another approach is to use an icon editor (like ICON.ED) to assign the 
attributes you like, including the name and location of the program to 
execute, to the Quark file icon. (It may be necessary to copy the icon from 
the original Quark diskette or to create a new icon. This icon would end up 
in the ICONS folder of your boot volume.)
