I wonder what kind of output (and input) the Mark Twain prototype
had from its built-in ports on back of the case. All of the circuitry
required to tap the stereo signal and access the ADC from the Ensoniq
were on the motherboard, in an isolated section away from anything
that could cause noise (even the Ensoniq chip itself). That is how the
GS should have been from the start. I still think it's kind of funny
Apple built the most advanced sound computer in existence in 1986, yet
couldn't put something as simple and basic as a stereo-out jack and
microphone input! :P
