Can you write images to disks formatted on the IIgs or SE/30 with Disk Copy
on the 6100?

Actually I mentioned that the opposite is the case. A guy I know used to have
an early 660av which came with a Sony drive and it gagged on disks from his
IIgs and IIci. He replaced it with a Pmac and never mentioned any more prob-
lems with his old disks.

I said that I have an early 840av with a Sony drive as well. I swapped in a
new Sony and have had no problems aside from with some really old disks.
I have old disks which give my IIgs problems too so that doesn't tell me much.

As a test, I took a 720K DOS formatted disk (which requires a reformat in order
to be 800K) and used Disk Copy 4.2 to make a floppy copy of the 6.0.1 boot
disk. I used my Powerbook to make the disk. It's the only Mac I have without
a Sony floppy. I tried this boot disk on my IIgs, both with the superdrive
connected to the superdrive card and with an 800K drive connected to the 
floppy port. The IIgs had zero problems booting from the disk either way.

So if I had troubles, some of the things I would try would be formatting the
disks on the IIgs before writing the images, and perhaps seeing if the IIgs
drives need cleaning. In my experience, using non Sony drives is not a
factor in getting 800K disks to work, but the new age controller can cause
problems. But a new mech in my box has made that a non factor as well.
