     This sounds like a question someone on a Mac group might look at and 
say "Oh, sure, that old Error 11 problem ..." and zip off an answer.

     Since the system eventually starts up via a hard Restart, a 
few guesses for things you might check (from someone who knows zilch 
about Mac 8100's) include a weak CMOS Setup (or whatever) battery, a weak 
block on hard disk, a virus, a glitchy keyboard, any peripheral which may 
not be plugged in securely, any loose power supply or other internal 
connectors.
