That will be the beauty of it all. A decent OS on an intel box sounds like a 
dream to me. A few years back, I was a dedicated OS/2 nut. It was the most 
impressive OS on the market at the time. When the price of the average intel 
box dropped like a rock, I hooked up with NT. Been using it ever since. Dont 
like it. It is underdocumented, the API sucks etc etc etc, but the application 
base is great.

And I have tried all the x86 flavors of *nix. Nice attempts, but X doesn't 
hold a candle to a decent mac or windows GUI unless you spend the big bucks.

The next few years are going to be interesting in terms of software and 
hardware development. Microsoft has a strangle hold on the software market, 
but the entire industry is in a state of limbo right now. Everyone wants to 
establish a standard, and while microsoft has it now, that is largely due to 
it's marketing muscle and the low price of a standard x86 platform.

Introducing a new OS into the x86 lineup that promises TRUE multiplatform 
compatibility (like NT does.... to a certain degree) with a solid core 
application support (word processor, spreadsheet, database, paint/page layout) 
integrated into the install process, AND with a little bit of anti-microsoft 
welcome to reality win95 sucks dont listen to bill he is satan buy our 
computer and you will never get a GPF and simple things shouldn't bring out 
the hourglass that literally goes on for hours advertising, and it just might 
work.
