Michael, two companies that I know of made these types of cards.
One was Pacemark and the other is Sequential Systems.  These are
printer sharing and buffering cards.  You are correct in that the
cards let several Apple II computers plug into one card in one
Apple II computer with then connect to one printer, letting all
the connected computers use that printer.  The cards have memory,
I believe, so that they can spool print requests.

Sequential is still selling their versions, if I'm not mistaken.
