This is what got me started with digitized audio on the Apple. I remember
it well. I always wanted to know how it was done and one day while
perusing the latest issue of Compute! in a Target store I read this
article. I couldn't afford to buy the magazine (gimme a break, I was
only 15 and didn't have a job or allowance) so I just copied the hex code
down on a piece of paper (it was only like 40 bytes) and then went home
and coded it in. I think I still have that piece of paper in my notes
somewhere. From then on it was fun with the cassette ports.
