Re: Piracy

Charles Turley pirated Brutal Deluxe's LemminGS and the source code for
Convert 3200. He uploaded both to an ftp site and lost his wco.com account
because of his illegal actions.

The following e-mail just arrived. It was written by the person who provided
Charles Turley with the software.

In light of his honesty and admission of guilt...I have taken the liberty of
deleting his name from the posting....

Charles Turley was offered amnesty if he came out and admitted to csa2 what
he'd done...but he chose instead to make up a story to cover-up the
truth. Since he'd rather tell lies and blame others for his mis-deeds,
Charles Turley will be paying the price...

In the meanwhile, visit http://www.cyberstation.fr/~zardini to learn the
whole truth, and nothing but the truth, about Charles Turley's sociopathic
war against the Apple II development community.

Well, what can I say?

You were right. I bought the software for Tom. I never uploaded them to
an FTP site.

Let me tell you a liittle about myself;

I only got involved with the Apple IIgs in August of '96. At that time I
had quite a few questions about the IIgs and posted them to CSA2. DrTom
was among the many who had helped me and I was more than thankful for the
assistance. I don't know Tom personally, only from a few emails here and
there.

What I didn't know was Tom's extensive background and history. I was in
the military prior to August of '96 and didn't know much about the Apple II
world. Since August, I had heard some rumor and speculation about Tom but
I hadn't really seen anything that indicated he was a "pirate." All I
wanted to do was fix up my IIgs. Tom told me via emails about his problems
with Joe Kohn and asked me if I would buy the program and send it to him.

I thought that Joe might have been unreasonable and agreed to obtain the
software for him. I didn't know Tom was going to upload them to an FTP
site. I was just doing him a favor.

For the last month I have closely watched the newspostings and other
things. I have wanted to explain my part but was not sure how it would be
received.

Let me tell you that I feel sick about this. I consider myself to be a
person of honor and feel horrible about my part in this. I guess I should
have come forward sooner.

I am truly sorry giving Tom my copies of your software. I humbly ask for
your forgiveness. I know that I may be forever blacklisted now, but I can
assure you that this sort of thing will NEVER happen by me again. I can
only hope that we can resolve this as gentlemen, peacefully. I would love
to remain a customer of Mr. Kohn and I would love to continue to buy Brual
Deluxe's software.

Again I am sorry. I want to be on the good guys side. I was just doing
the guy a favor.

Once again let me assure you that this will never happen again.
