If you've ever opened up your external modem and looked inside,
you would a tiny circuit board with some external connectors. You
can easily mount this inside your computer's case, connect the power
inputs to the computer's +5V and GND power supply wires, connect your
serial card's cable to the RS-232 connector, and mount the phone jacks
on the computer's rear cutouts. Presto, an internal fast modem.
This is especially easy if you have a towerized Apple.
