How to map Mac 3.5in drive when using 2e emulator?

OK, so forgive me for asking something which has undoubtedly been
asked a hundred times.

If I'm using an 2e emulator card in an LCII, can't I use the 3.5in
drive of the Mac in addition to 5.25in drive connected directly to the
card? Please don't tell me I can't.

The 5.25 comes up as drive 1 and I can boot appleworks from it just
fine. But the whole point of this exercise (for me) was to copy old
appleworks files to 3.5in diskettes so that they can be converted for
use on a Mac. To do this I presume I need to map the Mac's internal
3.5in to be drive 2.

I have tried mapping "smartports" slot 5 everyway I can think of, but
I can't get it to recognize slot 5 and 6 (the 5.25 drive) at the same
time. What is it that I'm missing?

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
