Please don't tell me you are a fellow owner of the OEM IBM 540 SCSI! I
have had so much unhappiness with that drive. My biggest problem (which
I suspect may be yours as well) was termination. They tell you that if
you place a jumper, I think it was on pins 7&8, then that will provide
termination. What it provides in nothing. I was forced to externally
terminate the stupid thing to get my GS or my Mac to boot off of it. It
really sucks because I bought it to use as an internal in an SE/30
(which is a file server for my GS what else would you do with a Mac?).
So I suspect termination, just as Nate said. Simple to fix externally.
