Have you tried other brands of disks? One if my Disk ][s shows
similar symptoms when I use Memorex disks in it...A temporary fix (at
least for me) is to hold the drive door open (a little). This seems
to "loosen stuff up enough"?

Doesn't bother me a shred. Is it certain programs that go boink when
these parameters are ignored?
