Actually CrossWorks is a fine way to get a .dsk image file created on
your
Apple ][ (using, say, DSK2FILE) over to your PC. In some ways it's
simpler
than running a terminal program on both machines, even though it's doing
the same thing. Batch transferring files is pretty simple, too.
