Any other cards under the front panel? It may have been fitted with
an AppleTalk or 32K Print bufer, which can cause problems on the Apple ][.

Eh? 14.4 Performa Modem. Do you mean GeoPort, or the card which fits the 
Communication slot in 52/53/62/63 type machines? Or is it something else?
GeoPort won't work on the IIgs, for certain, same for the CommSlot modem.
