Re: Asimov is a _PIRATE_ site. Face the Facts
This whole thing is really a non-issue.
Facts:
Asimov violates copyright laws.
Warez sites violate copyright laws.
alt.binaries newsgroups violate copyright laws.
Web pages violate copyright laws.
Outside of the internet, there are a lot of things wrong or in need of
improving in this world.
Before I personally go around griping about some copyright violations
(esp. on older software!), I am going to try to:
1. Improve the educational system and/or people's awareness of its
problems in the United States today
2. Improve the political system and/or people's awareness of its problems
in the United States today
(well, really I graduating from college should be a top priority for me...
:)
As a responsible individual, I feel it is my duty to address the problems
of greatest signifigance that have the greatest impact on the world
around me and the world my children may grow up in. Copyright violations
are on my list, but THEY ARE NOT AT THE TOP.
How much time do you people think is ok to spend on the issue of copyright
violations of old software?
Want to do something a *little* more useful to the world?
Work on getting people to stop pirating all that CURRENT commercial
software in the alt.binaries newsgroups.
Or do sting operations on warez sites.
Want to do something a *LOT* more useful to the world?
Help to make it a better place for our children, in the most significant
way you can.
(If, however, the most significant contribution you can make with your
short and valuable time on this planet is to stop the copying of some old
software, well, so be it.)
Just my 1/50 of a dollar.
