RamFast allows partitions to be enabled/disabled via its P8 utility
program.  And there's a switch on the RamFast which allows it to be
used with 8-bit Apples.

I have employed this solution with one of my hard drives.  I established
a first partition (containing the worn out blocks 0 & 1), then disabled
that partition.  This is how I got around my problem of the boot part.
constantly going bad.
