The short timeout is an option that I'd completely forgotten about. When
I checked it, it was set to off. I have never buggered with this option
before, so unless the RamFAST automatically toggles it on or off when the
"incompatible configuration" error message occurs, it has never
changed... and at times (from a complete power down) my system will boot
instantly with the RamFAST, and at other times I'll have to wait the 45
seconds. I could never figure it out...

I don't ever recall seeing a configuration file on my hard drive
(invisible or otherwise). Do you know where it saves the info?

Okay, however that is something I never do. I just power on the whole
system at the same time and the zip drive and ramfast just take off and
boot into gsos.
