Hmmm... I just followed up the message from Rubywand and I noted that 
most of the time (prior to this problem) I didn't have to wait the 45sec
with the RamFAST card from a complete power down to boot up.  In fact 
when I turned on my GS about 1 hour ago I did the same thing: the whole 
system was switched on at the same time and there was no RamFAST message, 
it just boot immediately and directly into the Finder.  I don't know why 
it is working again.

I've done the same thing with the Apple Rev C card, too: boot right into 
the Finder with the Zip drive without turning on the Zip drive first to 
warm up.

Yeah.  Well, I prefer the latter if given no choice.
