I _have_ connected my Zip to the IIgs with no ill effects... but you will
need a ROM upgrade for your RamFAST at least to version 3.01e (?) to do
it. (can't remember the most recent version).

You could probably get hold of a recent, working, ROM from someone who has
been keeping up-to-date without too much trouble.
