Can I use Iomega Zip drive on my IIgs?

   I just read the post that the Jaz drive works on the IIgs, but I was
wondering about using a Zip drive.  I tried to hook up my Mac's (gasp!!)
Zip to the old warhorse but The IIgs just ignored it.  I tried with the
disk in place at startup, but no difference.  Do I need some 3rd party
software or something?  I have:

Rom 01
4 megs in an AE GS-Plus card
9 mhz Zip accelerator
RamFast 3.0 rev D (I think this is right)
540 meg HD
Sys 6.0.1

   Oh, does anyone know where I can pick up 2 more megs (8 x 1 meg type) for
my GS-Plus card?
