Python port for the IIGS
Gary F. Desrochers <desrochers@genie.com> whom (I conclude) did the IIGS
port of Python - was kind enough to send me the (non-corrupt) following
3 (SHK) Shrinkit archives of the Python port to the IIGS;
Python.Main.shk (378k), Python.Lib.shk (962k) and Python.Docs.shk
(1,066k).
When downloaded and unshrunk they all total a little over 5MB's. Python
was first uploaded to Ground Apple II ftp site, about 3 weeks ago - as a
single shrinkit archive - however the archive was corrupted. Besides,
(as of current) - Ground seems to be down and off-line for a while now,
BUMMER! So, I've placed the Python IIGS port - as noted above (with the
text documentation files for it) on the GS WorldView.
These archives and text documentation files for Python IIGS will remain
on the GS WorldView web site until 7/14/96. By then (surely) Ground will
be back on-line and then they should be available there - permanently
archived.
For those of you not aware of exactly what Python is, a brief
comparitive follows - with its needs. It's a lot like JAVA. It requires
GNO to function. That's about it. If you want it, then go get it. (It
may well be available on Genie also).
The text files with the archived Shrinkit files give a complete review
and discription of what it's all about.
The URL and folder that it's located in on the GS WorldView web site
follows.
http://www.wco.com/~3d5d1wsw/gsezine/GS.WorldView/*PYTHON.IIGS/
The IIGS port text file documentation and the original text file
documentation file of Python are included in the folder also, for your
review!
