   Yeah. Once they start putting modem addons to home game systems
(Sony Playstation, Sega Saturn, Nintendo Ultra 64), which already cost
<$300, and have some serious amounts of processing power to boot
(decoding JPEGs on a 65816 is painful; pretty trivial on modern
processors with addon graphics hardware), $500 is way too much. With a
$100 modem & software addon, you could market a $400 box for internet
access, and could then turn around and play some fairly kick-ass games.

   A $500 box tht did only internet would die a pretty painful death
compared to a game system addon.
