The GS can use any regular 14.4 modem with no problems. Be sure
that you get one that can properly cable to the GS, and avoid the
ones that do their job partly in software (easily distinguished by
really low prices). You will need a high-speed cable with hardware
handshaking.
Two excellent telecom programs are Spectrum if you prefer GSOS and
ProTERm 3.1 if you prefer ProDOS. Both are very solid, very richly
featured.
