We can come up with rough estimates based upon performance of 10MHz
(Zip/gs or Transwarp) accelerated machines. Assuming we implement a good
graphics sub-processor with at least 2MB of graphics memory, expand Sound
RAM to 1MB, and set base bus speed to 8MHz, there should be no problem
running GS-X versions of games like Doom II with a 20MHz uP and 256K
cache.
As Sheldon notes, a RISC version of a 65C832 or 651632 may be the best
way to get started. Assuming good Graphics and Sound subsystem design, a
GS-X
running a 50MHz RISC "65C832" would out-perform most PC's.
