Re: Help with Keyboard problems!!!
I have had a lot of experience with the Apple IIgs keyboards. I
do the repairs for all Apple productrs for my school div. and
have had several IIgsw kybds go down for the same reason. Apple
was great to have switchable ADB ports on the keyboard but
after being switched or bumped enough, the solder connections
come apart. I ahve had to resolder many and on a few occsions,
ahve had to actually add wire to the port ends and run jumpers
to the approprate point on the keyboard. Not neat looking but
doens work in a pinch. A better solution is to buy a
replacement kybd. Extended kybds can be had for as low as $50
and they seem to be dependable in our lab setting. I have not
had a single Mac basic keyboard go done in over 5 yrs of
service with them. Apple must have gotten better with their ABD
ports.
Best of luck
Ron
