This is my IIgs:
Rom 01, Zip 7/64, heavy duty power supply, 40 meg Scsi HD, Ram 4000
memory card.
Yesterday I installed BOOTTIME (author: Chris Vavrushka), which was
presented in the Sept/Oct issue of GS+ MAGAZINE.
BOOTTIME is a control panel that is supported to tell you how many times
your GS has normal shit-downs vs. sudden crashes.
Well, BOOTIME is batting 1000 now : My IIgs is frozen up on every boot!
It worked o.k. for the frst 5-6 boots, but NOW, when I load, the BOOTTIME
DISPLAY does not appear, but the computer "freezes up" when the
loading-thermometer indicates that the load is almost finished. It never
reaches the finder!
I realize that there is _probably_ an incompatibility between BOOTTIME
and my other NDA, but how can I recover the finder? I have many
valuable files on my hard disk and none of them are now accessible.
Also, I tried to reinstall System 6.0.1 (which is on my hard disk), but
the
3.5" disk-based finder does not recognize the hard drive (slot 7, drives
1 & 2). Also, I loaded Copy II Plus v. 9.1 from a floppy to see whether
I could delete the BOOTIME file. Copy II Plus 9.1 nrecognized the hard
drive, but the system crashed into monittor when I tried to get a
directory listing.
Please advise: How can I remove BOOTIME from the hard disk when the
load stalls before I reach the Finder?
