People still don't get the purpose of the GS, do they? :)

DT, the GS community is now led by groups of hacker/hobbyists who realize
that their machine isn't all "new and dandy" but have a lot of fun
tweaking it and shattering it's "limits" time and time again... So who are
you to try to take that away from them? The GS is like a 68 Mustang...
Sure, a modern sports car could easily outperform it, and sure, modern
add-ons may be cheaper and easier to come by, but to the die hard owner,
the 68 Mustang is just a classic car that's fun to tweak, twiddle (ok i
made that word up), and marvel at what it can still do despite its age.

IMO, the GS is an example of what programming talent and dedication can
bring in the computer world. Apple had no idea in 1986 that their little
machine would still be in use 10 years down the road and, with quite
little change, be able to do things like play 8 track MOD files, multitask
with a unix shell, and boast 1024 X 768 pixel graphics. In fact, I find
that many of the GS's former programmers make excellent code on the
machines that they move to and are frustrated by a higher processor
requirement every 2 months instead of just optimizing the programs
further.

No one is trying to say the GS has power anywhere near a 120mhz pentium,
but don't try to diminish the achievements of a few brilliant people
trying only to see how far they can push the machine they love.
