I bought my first Apple II only a couple of years ago! I had just moved to
Alaska, Fairbanks area, and my PC's were in my household goods shipment that I
wouldn't get my hands on for another 2-3 months. I couldn't live without a
computer that long! So I went in search of a cheap substitute to get me by.
Amongst old 8088's, & 286's I ran across an old IIe for $350.00 with 128k RAM,
two floppies, and a monochrome monitor and a little software and talked the guy
down to $300.00 plus an Epson MX-80 printer, and a 2400 external modem. The IIe
had a SuperSerial card as well as a Z-80 softcard. Man I have had a blast with
this machine and fell in love with it. I still use my PC's but not as much. My
386 has dos/win, OS/2 and Linux on it and I mess with OS/2 & Linux a bit. I now
have a II+, 3 IIe's and an enhanced IIe and even a III. I plan to get a IIGS
when I can get around to it because I like the speed and graphics and the IIe
compatibility. I would like to use it as a bridge between the internet and my
IIe's since I can download straight to a floppy and avoid the serial to serial
transfer from the PC. I do as much as I can on my IIe's.
