faxination help?

I' have always had good luck using faxination with my Supra
until today. I am using version 1.6.
 
The program works okay until the "establishing connection" phase, sends
messages back and forth at this point (for at least a minute) and then hangs
up with the error message: Fax Protocol error. I have double checked and this
reoccurs with different destination machines.
 
I have tried many combinations of the options, as well as settings in the modem
control panel. No luck...
 
Any ideas? I could not get a hold of Vitesse today.
