Parallel Printer connection

Hi All

   A friend owns a venderable Apple IIe with printer. Said printer is
connected to a parallel port (card) in the usual manner. His brother
has offered to him the use of a typical IBM clone. He wished to know
if he can connect his Apple printer in some manner to the IBM. I know
that this is definitely possible with printers that are connected to 
a serial card (sometimes in creative ways) as I have done it for
various reasons. However, I have never tried with one connected in
a parallel fashion. Has anyone tried this with any success? If a 
cable modification is necessary, any suggestions??
