  Yes, Pointless does improve the appearance of fonts on the screen, but
only if you did not have the requested font in the Fonts
directory.  Pointless generated fonts look better than Quickdraw
generated fonts.

  Only if you're not using Pointless.  The whole point of Pointless and
TrueType fonts is that any font requested can be generated on
the fly, so you don't need to store a horde of font sizes on disk.
