Just a side note: HCGS 1.1 works fine with System 6.0.  It will also
work with 5.0.4, but some features are not available.  It doesn't take
advantage of any new features in 6.0.1.

Not that I've heard of.  How much RAM do you have?  HCGS needs at
least 1.5 MB, and I mean it _NEEDS_ it.  I wouldn't recommend going
with less than 2 MB (with no RAM disk, and minimal set of INITs, etc.)

You can probably modify the driver's auxiliary type to trick GS/OS
into thinking that it only supports one drive.

The reason for the second drive appearing is that some third-party
5.25" drives were not being reliably detected, so Apple removed the
detection code and assumed that there were always two drives.

(The detection method relies on a fluctuating receive signal from the
drives during earlier stages of motor startup, but some third-party
drives force the receive data line off until the drive is up to
speed.)

A better solution is to disable the driver completely, or to switch
out the disk port - I probably use my 5.25" drive no more than once a
month.
