Umm let see here the the IIe version would have to have holes on the bottom to
screw in the power supply in firmly into the case.  The GS version does not.
The power connector is different though an adapter could be made.  The IIe
version as seen from an Incider issue has the bulge for the drive on the left
hand side instead of the right on the GS version.  THe IIGS version allows the
power supply to be snapped into the existing place of the old power supply.
As for software differences, I don't know.  I just got a power supply and put
a Quantum 105s in it and it works like a charm.
