I'm pretty sure it was Apple II came at first probably 4k, and when Apple
introduced the first disk drive that was increased to 16k, then with the
introduction of the II+ that baseline was increased to 48k, from there you
could increase the base memory to 64k and the upper 16k that was called
bank switched memory. Third party producers had cards that would allow an
Apple II or II+ to access beyond 64k and with the introduction of the IIe/c
Apple included support for over 64k.
