Hello,
I am looking for help on how to share an Imagewriter II between a IIe and
a II GS at my son's school. I know a fairly little about the II GS, but
even less about the IIe. so here goes.
I have an A-B switchbox with three DB-25 connectors and the appropriate
cables for the GS; it's printing works fine. The IIe end is problematic.
The problem seems to be in configuring it properly regarding drivers,
ports/slots, serial card, etc, since I can't make it print to an IW I _or_
an IW II with or without the switchbox in between. I am testing using The
Print Shop (?? version). The printer card (which I believe to be an Apple
Super Serial Card) presents its DB-25 connector to me out an opening
labelled "10" on the rear of the computer (I have no idea what slot/port
this represents; The Print Shop setup seems to only offer choices from
1-7) which I have connected to the switchbox via a straight through cable
with DB-25 on both ends. I have been telling the setup that I'm using an
Apple Imagewriter printer since there doesn't seem to be an option for IW
II (I presume this is the driver choice). I have two 5.25" drives
attached (if that matters; Print Shop always asks). I know that the
switchbox works properly.
If anyone can help give me some leads on where to start I'd appreciate
it. I don't know whether the pinouts on the cable are different or
whether my driver, serial card, or slot/port choices are correct.
Replies via e-mail would be most useful.
Thanks,
