Are you using a hardware handshaking cable? (You must with high speed
modems.)
Do you have a cda that uses interrupts?
Are you positive that the far end machine and PT3 have the same
terminal emulation?
Do you have the same problem to any other site?
Do you access your site over a LAN?
Do others with other machines at the same baud rate have the same
problems?

I don't believe that you ever have to set your control panel to
anything for PT3. It will do it for you. (Actually, it writes to the
port directly and probably doesn't put anything back since that is the
way it needs things the next time it is entered. Naturally, on boot up
the control panel will say how the port gets configured.)
