You should try my freeware Skip'em utility which lets you do a shift boot
after some inits have already loaded!

It should be archived somewhere. I placed it in binaries and at caltech
in February 1994..... A later version followed around August (guessing).

I'll re-upload the latest to Caltech tonight if I can't find it there.
